While we do still recommend balance charging with a balance lead to achieve a perfectly balanced battery pack at full charge, it is not required to keep the battery closely balanced if you have the self balancing unit(SBU) feature installed. The other benefit of having a balance lead installed also, is that it gives you the ability to check individual cell voltages when you want to.
